50+ WordPress Shortcuts that safe you a lot of time!

When writing an article your hands are usually on the keyboard right?

So why should you take one hand off and switch to your mouse just to make your next words bold or italic?

Sure that does not take a lot of time but if you add up the time for every keyboard to mouse movement while writing long articles, you will definitely spend more time on this than you want to.

Luckily there is an awesome and easy alternative:

You can use keyboard shortcuts to format your text without ever having to touch the mouse again! (well actually to publish your article you will need to)

I guess you already know the “CTRL + C” and “CTRL + V” shortcuts to copy a marked text and paste it. But did you know that additionally to these conventional shortcuts there are many more WordPress specific ones to keep you from having to use your mouse?

In this article I will show you shortcuts I myself use pretty much every day. It takes a little time to get used to them but when you have, they will be an absolute timesaver in your writing routine.

Shortcuts to work with comments

Oh yes, even when moderating your comments you can do that completely without using your mouse.

To be able to do that you first need to activate this feature for your account. Go to “users” -> “your profile” and activate “Enable keyboard shortcuts for comment moderation.” (and of course don’t forget to save).

Now you can use the following shortcuts while moderating the comments.

K = go one comment above
J = go one comment below
X = select the comment (for bulk-actions)

A = Approve the comment
S =  mark the comment as Spam
D = Delete the comment
U = Unapprove the comment
R = Reply to the comment

Do you already use shortcuts?

So, here they are. A lot of shortcuts for your work with WordPress so you can save time. Don’t reach for your mouse all the time try to work these shortcuts into your workflow.

Of course you won’t just read them one time and then remember every single one (I surely don’t) so I would recommend you to print out the list or set a bookmark.

Just try to start with five of them which you could really use and just add the next ones after a while.

Trust me, you will use those shortcuts without even thinking about it sooner than you think!

Are you already using shortcuts and if so, which ones are your favourites? Leave a comment!
